At a Churches Together meeting last night - and people were talking about the human consequences of the recession. Some are visible now, but the consensus was there were a lot to come - are we in the 'phoney (sp?) recession' stage?
Money changers, eh - we can't do with them and we can't do without them. We're all individuals (as 'Brian' pointed out) - so does anyone feel a sense of responsibility for 'society'? So we get the biggest run on a bank since Mary Poppins, and all the other stuff.
